OVERFISHING, A GLOBAL PROBLEM TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT

The purpose of this report is to analyze the current situation of the wild sea in relation to the continued and rising exploitation by the human being as well as the unfortunate future that is approaching if we remain impassive.

What is really happening?

A great deal of studies and researches confirm that two serious problems are arising, mainly because our oceans are suffering a thoughtless exploitation and collapse.Firstly, species, as well as entire ecosystems are being lost. As a result, the overall ecological unity of our oceans are under stress and at risk of collapse.
Secondly, we are in risk of losing a valuable food source many depend upon for social, economical or dietary reasons.

Why does it
happen?
The ocean as a source of natural wealth has existed for a long time. However, it is being exhausted not only as a consequence of  terrible methods of fishing but also because the large amount of fishing boats which daily ply the seas in order to get the best result. Hand made methods have being replaced with the highest technology.  As a consequence, the sea species can´t scape from the selfish human being, who, constantly, without resting, is breaking the natural balance necessary for the whatever living thing.

  Possible Solutions

To sum up, we are indebted to the oceans, to  nature in general. It would be necessary a global plan where not only strict laws were considered, but also an awareness of the worldwide population as well as an education in the long term, which could prepare the citizens for a drastic change in their behaviour, specially in those areas which economically  depend directly on  fishing.
